Voices In My Head Podcast Episode #265: Thomas Merton - Life and Holiness
Thursday May 03, 2018
Thursday May 03, 2018
There are few spiritual masters who have touched my life in the way that the late Thomas Merton has. His book, "Life and Holiness" is one of the finest books on holiness that I have ever read. This is a short podcast today but I hope it will be a meaningful one that gives space to contempate as well as some prayerful guidance. If you have never read a book by Thomas Merton, maybe this will provide you with some motivation to do so. I promise you, it will be good for your soul.
Blessings,
Rick Lee James

An Islam Conversation with Samina and Sana Ahmed
This week on Voices In My Head I am joined by Samina and Sana Ahmed, a mother and daughter who are part of the Muslim community here in Springfield Ohio. It was so great to sit down with them and ask them questions about their faith. They are truly generous people who are always willing to answer any questions that people might have about their faith and on this podcast they do just that. Samina and Sana want you to be as informed as possible about Islam and have offered a free copy of the English version of the Quran to anyone who would like to know more. You can contact them by email at Sana.ahmed2010@gmail.com

Dove Award-nominated recording artist, songwriter and award-winning author Andrew Peterson returns to Voices In My Head (The Official Podcast of Rick Lee James). Andrew recently announced the long-awaited album Resurrection Letters, Vol. I, which will release March 30 and which was preceded by Feb. 9th launch of Resurrection Letters: Prologue. Both recordings will release globally from Centricity Music, and Prologue will became available on Friday, Feb. 9 from digital retailers everywhere and through
https://AndrewPeterson.lnk.to/Prologue.
Releasing in time for Easter, Resurrection Letters, Vol. I features songs like “Is He Worthy,” “I’ve seen Too Much” and “His Heart Beats,” the latter track being heard on Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God tour last year. The song is about that glorious moment in the tomb when Jesus, who was dead, came back to life.
“My dream for Resurrection Letters, Vol. I is that it would be the kind of record people turned up to eleven on Easter Sunday, when Christians all over the world celebrate something that happened—it really happened—two millennia ago,” says Peterson.
Also,
We are in the final hours of our crowdfunding campaign to make a new album through Indiegogo. It’s not too late to help us make “Thunder” a reality. Thunder will feature original music by Rick Lee James, re-imagined Hymns, and lost music from Rich Mullins.

Voices In My Head Podcast #235: Soul of Cash with Brian Owens
Monday Oct 16, 2017
Monday Oct 16, 2017
My guest today on Voices In My Head is R&B Singer BRIAN OWENS. With his music being compared to legendary artists like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and the Reverend Al Green, Brian has been featured on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Entertainment Tonight and Fox and Friends among others.
Aside from making incredible music with Grammy award winning artists like Michael McDonald, Brian is also an Air Force veteran, a husband, a father, and a man of faith who provides leadership development for urban youth in his hometown of Ferguson, Missouri through Life Arts Incorporated.
Brian’s original music is full of messages that are encouraging, thought-provoking, and touching with subjects that range from social awareness to family life.
His latest album, Soul of Cash, is a cover album of songs made famous by Johnny Cash. But unlike most cover albums, Soul of Cash reimagines the Man In Black’s hit song giving an R & B feel that makes them feel fresh and original.
Filled with guest appearance by artists like ROBERT RANDOLPH, THE DEACONS OF SOUL, RISSI PALMER, and DYLAN MCDONALD just to name a few, Soul of Cash breathes new life and emotion into the songs of Johnny Cash for a new generation.
Brian Owens, it is my great pleasure to welcome you today as my featured guest on Voices In My Head.
NOTE: Stay tuned until the end of the podcast for special surprise, a speech delivered by Johnny Cash himself. The speech was recorded at the Academy of Achievement Summit at the Glacier Park Lodge at majestic Glacier Park in Montana.
